Instructions:

Cut the pears into slices and place them in a well-buttered gratin dish.

Boil the milk with the vanilla pod and the sugar. Remove from the heat and let it stand for 5 minutes. First mix in the beaten eggs and egg yolks, then the whipped cream. Pour the cream over the pears and cook at 150 degrees (gas mark 5), keeping a close eye on the browning.
