Instructions:

Place water, sugar, ginger and lime juice in a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil. Simmer gently for 1 minute, remove from the heat and cool slightly.

Pour off the syrup, add the ginger wine and mix well. Cool completely.

Place the prepared fruit in a large enough bowl. Add the cold syrup and stir well. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours.

Just before serving, mix in half of the shredded coconut. Sprinkle the rest on top of the fruit salad.

If physalis fruits are used to decorate the fruit salad, bend each sepal outward a tiny bit to make them look like flowers. Clean the berries and arrange them around the edge of the fruit salad before serving.

They make excellent decorations for many desserts that use fruit as a base.
