For Arme-Ritter rolls with wild berry jam, remove the crust from the toast slices and spread with the jam.

Whisk the milk with the egg and pour into a deep dish. Dip the slices of toast, jam side up, into the milk mixture for a few seconds and wrap each one on a piece of aluminum foil using the foil to form a roll. Wrap the foil tightly around the roll, tucking in the ends. Let rest for about 20 minutes.

Heat butter in a large non-stick frying pan, unwrap rolls and fry until golden brown on all sides.

Sprinkle Arme-Ritter-Röllchen with wild berry jam with plenty of sugar and serve.
