1. toast sesame seeds in a dry frying pan over medium heat for 3 to 4 min, swirling the pan gently until the seeds are golden brown. 2. pound the sesame seeds in a mortar and grind to a paste 3. perhaps add oil to help the paste bind 4. mix the paste with sugar, soy sauce, mirin, dashi and warm water 5. keep covered in the refrigerator and use within 2 days of preparation.
