For the burger buns, melt the butter in lukewarm water. Mix flour, dry yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add water, butter and egg and knead into a smooth dough – comes away very easily from the bowl and fingers.

Cover dough ball and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour. Knead dough on a floured work surface to allow air to escape.

Divide into 4-6 equal parts (depending on desired size of finished rolls). Shape into balls. Make sure that the end (dough joint) is at the bottom so that the rolls do not crack during baking. Flatten and let rise again for about 1 hour.

Brush dough blanks with water or egg white and sprinkle with some sesame seeds if desired. Bake at 185°C top/bottom heat for approx. 12-17 minutes, until they have slightly taken color. Let the burger buns cool on a wire rack.
