First, heat the oven to 180 °C top and bottom heat and line a cake tray with baking paper.
Drain the cherries.
Melt the chocolate together with the butter in the microwave.
Meanwhile, beat the sugar, vanilla sugar and eggs until fluffy. Stir in the melted chocolate-butter mixture.
Then briefly stir in the almonds together with the flour and baking powder, pour the batter into the pan (the batter is very liquid!) and then top with the cherries.
Bake for approx. 30 to 40 minutes (depending on the height of the tray – just test with a stick).
