Dough: Beat the butter with half of the sugar and gradually add the egg yolks until you have a white creamy mixture. Then beat the egg whites with the remaining sugar. Finally, mix the whipped butter-yolk mixture, the whipped egg whites and the flour. Then divide the mixture in half.
Mix cocoa and orange liqueur and stir into one half of the waffle batter. Season the other half of the batter with a tiny bit of cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.
Lightly oil the waffle iron and preheat to 165 degrees. Finish baking the waffles, dust with powdered sugar and serve with spiced oranges while still warm.
Spiced Oranges: Peel the oranges and remove the fillets. Collect the juice and heat together with the 150 ml star anise, orange juice, sugar, cloves, cinnamon sticks and vanilla. Pour the hot juice over the orange fillets form and infuse at least 6 hours at room temperature. Now remove the orange fillets and mix about 1/4 of the liquid with cornstarch. Repeatedly heat the remaining liquid and let it bubble once with the mixed maizena (cornstarch) until a light binding is formed. Repeatedly mold the orange fillets into the bound juice and offer as an addition to the waffles.
