Have you tried this delicious recipe with red wine?

Lightly simmer red wine, cassis-cinnamon, syrup, orange and slice of lemon in a wide frying pan for about five minutes. Score the figs crosswise at the stem end, add them to the pan and cook gently for about ten minutes with the lid closed.

Take out, boil liquid to half, strain, pour over figs. Cover and let stand for two to three hours.

Serve: with whipped cream or possibly ice cream, sprinkle with cinnamon.
