Instructions:

Heat the milk to about 40 °C and melt the yeast in it. Prepare with the remaining ingredients to a smooth dough and let rise for at least an hour.

Beat the dough “together” and let it rise again. When the dough has reached the desired volume, rolled out to about 45 cm x 30 cm.

For the filling, gradually mix the marzipan paste with the milk. When the marzipan paste is soft, add all the remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.

For the braid, spread the nut filling on the rolled out dough and form an even roll from the long side. Then cut the roll apart in the middle and twist together with the cut side facing out.

Place the finished braid on a greased baking sheet and let it rise repeatedly. Brush the finished plait with egg yolk and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 40 minutes.

Cover the baked plait with cooked apricot jam.
