Strip the elderberries from the stems and wash. Place water and berries in a large bowl and mash. Heat in a water bath until juice is formed.

Juice the pulp and measure out 1/2 l of juice. Add cane sugar, cloves and cinnamon sticks and boil the mixture weakly for another 10 minutes.

Immediately pour the hot syrup into bottles and seal them.
