Remove peel from potatoes and cut into 1 cm slices. Boil water with the beef broth. Grease a half-height ovenproof dish, layer the potato slices in it and pour the hot beef broth over it. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and cook the potatoes in a heated oven (200 °C) for about 35 minutes.

In the meantime, grate cheese medium fine, cut ham into 1 cm cubes. Mix the milk well with the eggs and the cornstarch, season with freshly grated nutmeg and paprika.

Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle ham cubes on top, pour egg milk and sprinkle with cheese. Return the open casserole to the oven and bake at only 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Tip: It is best to use your favorite ham – then your dish tastes twice as good!
