Season the New Year’s Eve punch with Angostura bitters. Stir and season carefully.
If you find the New Year’s Eve punch too sweet, add a tiny bit of juice from a lemon. If you find it a little too tart, grenadine syrup will provide the missing sweetness.
Place the New Year’s Eve punch in the refrigerator until your guests arrive. Stir well and bring to the table over two to three ice cubes in a medium-high glass. Garnish with an orange slice or fresh fruit skewer, if desired.
Our Tip:
Grenadine syrup is not available everywhere. However, it can also be replaced by a simple sugar syrup. You can easily make it yourself. Use four parts sugar and one part water and mix them in a saucepan.
Then boil the liquid for five minutes, cool it down and store it in the refrigerator. Sugar syrup is an important ingredient in many mixed drinks.
