This charming homemade lucky piglet is made very easily. First prepare a yeast dough. To do this, prepare a vapor: Mix the yeast, lukewarm milk, a pinch of sugar and some flour and let it rise in a warm place, covered. As soon as the surface cracks, the dampfl is ready for further processing. All the remaining ingredients can now be mixed in and worked into a smooth dough. Let this rise for about 30 minutes again really nice. Then punch down the dough, let it rise again for 10 minutes and punch it down again. This requires some patience, but makes a wonderfully fluffy pastry.
Now break the dough into a few pieces and process as follows:
1)For the pig’s head, roll out the dough thinly and cut out round disks. 3)For the snout, cut out a small round disk and cut out two nostrils in it. 4) For the pig ears, cut out two half moons. 5) Finally, put the pieces together. 6) Bend one of the ears over – it looks teasing! 7) Brush with egg yolk and milk mixture.8) Place in oven preheated to about 200 degrees C and bake for about 10 minutes. 9) Make the piggy’s eyes either from raisins or from sprinkled sugar snow and chocolate pieces. A variation with filling: cut out two large round slices and put a small amount of nut filling or poppy seed filling on one. Then place the two slices on top of each other and press them well together at the edges.
