Brown the meat in the oil and crumble, season with salt and pepper. Pour the contents of the cans into a large saucepan, add the spices and the browned meat and bring to the boil thoroughly.

Season quite heartily.

Serve with baguette, pita bread or a sturdy farmhouse bread.
