For the apple-nut cake, coarsely grate the apples and sprinkle with lemon juice. Cream butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt.

Gradually stir in the eggs. Mix flour, cornflour and baking powder and fold in. Drain the apples and fold in with the hazelnuts at the end.

Grease and flour the loaf pan, pour in the batter and bake in a preheated oven at 175 °C for about 60-75 minutes.
