Remove the skin from the potatoes and slice finely. Remove the skin from the apples, halve, core and cut into thin slices. Layer both in a roof tile-like manner in a buttered baking dish. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Pour on enough whipped cream to half-cover everything. Bake in a heated oven at about 180 °C for 40 minutes. 5 minutes before the end of the baking time, add the Gorgonzola cheese and gratinate.
