I was told this is Samoa’s answer to stuffed peppers. This is good because papayas are a natural antacid (remedy for stomach acid). You use papayas that are firm and just barely ripe, that they “stand” better in the oven.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. In a large baking bowl, mix minced meat with bread crumbs, eggs, onion and milk with your hands to make a dough. Brush each papaya half with a tiny bit of oil and season with salt and pepper. Fill each with a quarter of the minced meat mixture and place on a parchment paper form. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 min. Serve immediately.
