Rinse the tomatoes and cut them into slices, removing the stalks. Arrange on a platter or large plate. Remove the skin from the garlic, chop it finely and sprinkle it over the tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with 2 tablespoons of oil. 2.
Rinse the basil, shake dry and cut the leaves into thin strips. Drain the mozzarella well and cut into slices.
Cover the tomato slices with the mozzarella slices. Drizzle with the remaining olive oil and bring to the table sprinkled with the basil. Offer balsamic vinegar vinegar with it, so that everyone can drizzle a little of it over the mozzarella as they please.
Serve with fresh, warm white bread.
