For the Gugelhupf preheat the oven to 180 ° C top-bottom heat and carefully grease a Gugelhupfform and sprinkle with flour or breadcrumbs.

Separate the eggs, beat the yolks together with the butter and sugar really nice and creamy !!!! (the mass should have become substantially lighter by beating).

Beat the egg whites together with the salt until stiff. Gradually stir in the flour together with the baking powder and rum (or milk if you prefer it without alcohol).

Finally, fold in the beaten egg whites and pour the batter into the prepared Gugelhupfform. Bake the Gugelhupf for about 50 minutes – 1 hour. (do a needle test).

Before serving, sprinkle the Gugelhupf with powdered sugar.
