For the ginger punch, first cut the ginger into thin slices.

Peel the oranges with a peeler, cut the peel into thin julienne strips and squeeze out the juice.

Bring star anise, wine, orange peel and ginger to a boil together.

Add the liqueur and orange juice.

Pour the hot ginger punch through a sieve into two glasses.

Sweeten with rock candy if desired.
