For the apricot dumplings, mix all dough ingredients until smooth.
Pit 16 apricots (do not take them completely apart) and put a piece of sugar cube in the place of the pit. Divide the dough into 16 pieces. Pull the individual pieces over the apricots with floured hands. Be careful: apricots must be completely coated.
Let dumplings steep in lightly simmering water for about 10 minutes.
For the sweet crumbs for the apricot dumplings, lightly toast the breadcrumbs and sugar in melted butter. Add Grand Marnier and turn the finished dumplings in it.
