For the flour dumplings, boil plenty of salted water in a large pot. Put flour in a bowl or heap on a work surface and mix with egg, baking powder, a pinch of salt and water to form a dough.
Work through until dumplings can be formed from the dough with wet hands. Press well until smooth, quickly place in boiling water and let simmer for 15-25 minutes just below boiling point, depending on size.
Lift out and drain the flour dumplings.
