Instructions:

Lentils should ensure that there is always enough money in the house next year. This stew gets really hearty with smoked bacon and crackling sausages and is a quick, no-frills dish for cold winter days.

You read the lentils on a tray, wash them and then soak them for a night. You can do without soaking as well in a pinch, because with these legumes it has little effect on the cooking time of the entire stew.

Peel and dice the potatoes and form them with the lentils in 1 liter of water. Bring to a boil and do it for 45 minutes, until the lentils are almost cooked. In the meantime, chop the smoked bacon and add it to the stew at the end of the cooking time.

Brown the flour in a heavy, ungreased frying pan over medium heat, mix it with a tiny bit of cold water and form this to the stew as well. Bring it to a boil while stirring. Make about 5 min until the flour taste is lost. Season the soup with salt, pepper and vinegar.

Dice the knackwurst sausages and fry them lightly in an ungreased frying pan before serving them in the stew.

Tips:

* Lentils should always be picked to remove small stones. You don’t necessarily have to soak lentils. This will only shorten the cooking time by a few min.

Our tip: Use bacon with a fine, smoky note!
