For the carrot cake, mix the sugar and butter together well. Mix the eggs and add to the sugar-butter mixture. Add cardamom, ground cloves, cinnamon, salt, carrots, almond kernels and rum.
Sift flour and baking powder over the batter. Mix everything well and pour into a greased cake springform pan. Bake in the oven preheated to 200 °C for about 60 minutes.
Place the marzipan carrots decoratively on the cooled carrot cake.
