Instructions:

Mix well oatmeal, condensed milk, a little bit of juice of one lemon with 3 tbsp cold water.

Sprinkle with hazelnuts.

This is the original muesli invented by Dr. Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner (1867-1939) for patients at his famous naturopathic clinic in Zurich. He used condensed milk because it was the only milk guaranteed not to contain germs at the end of the previous century. You can replace it with regular yogurt and milk, respectively, although the condensed milk gives the cereal a nice, creamy texture that you can’t get with yogurt and milk, respectively. Dr. Bircher-Benner served this muesli to his patients for dinner, along with thin slices of whole-grain bread, honey and herbal tea.

Our tip: If you like to cook with fresh herbs, it’s best to get kitchen herbs in pots – that way you’ll always have everything on hand!
