For the gingerbread slices, mix 200g of flour with the spices, baking powder and salt. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.In a second bowl, prepare the butter mixture. To do this, beat with a hand mixer the butter, brown sugar and 6 tsp sugar until creamy. Stir in the 2 eggs, one at a time, and add the maple syrup.
Now mix the butter mixture with the flour and spice mixture.
Butter a shallow baking pan or deep baking sheet and lightly dust it with flour. Pour the gingerbread mixture into the pan to a thickness of about 1 cm and sprinkle with the remaining sugar before placing the pan in the oven.
Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
Remove the tray from the oven and allow the gingerbread to cool briefly. Cut the gingerbread into small rectangles. Serve the gingerbread either fresh or store it in a cookie tin with an apple to keep it from drying out.
